Title: DS LITE MIC
Post by: SNiPERSEyE on May 04, 2011, 07:57:41 PM
So recently the microphone on my girlfriends ds lite stopped working and now she cant finish Zelda (i gave her my dsi for the time being)
but im wondering is there anyway that this is a common repairable issue because i dont wanna go through the trouble of taking the thing apart and possibly breaking it (happend with my original ds) or can i take it to a best buy or someplace and get it repaired for cheap  (preferably under 20$)

Thnaks ahead of time everyone!

If the mic is damaged order a new one and install it.. It's not hard. and it doesn't require full disassembly.

most common problem is the mic jack that breaks. causing the internal mic not working.
There IS a fix, but the previous post deleted the image.

edit:
I fixed the mic problem, permanently.

Blurry.
Basically, I just solder the lower and upper pin together.

Originally, when you insert an external headset /w mic, pin pin switch breaks, and you cant use the internal mic. But over time, even when you dont  use a headset, the pin switch break itself. You can fix this by cleaning the pin, pull the pin upwards, or just solder the damn thing.
I'm not even gonna use a headset to play games.

I have an Issue with a DSi at my Shop the internal mic doesn't work. I ordered a new one but if that doesn't work I guess I can try this. Thanks awesome work! If at all possible Can I get a Hirez Shot of what you did. If that is possible if not forget I asked.

Here a link to my old fix:

Usually its just the pins were bent in the lower microphone jack.  Try bending them out with a toothpick first.
