Title: PSP USB and Charging trouble's
Post by: Thrash5 on May 06, 2011, 07:28:43 PM
Well i let my friend borrow my PSP and apparently he plugged it into a Broken USB slot.
and he was using a Combo Charger/USB with both plugged in.
what i see that happened is that the Red and Black crossed when it got plugged in

The Problem i am having with the PSP is it will not recognize USB or Charging (it did before)
its definitely not my USB cords or Chargers ive tested it (or batteries).
its a hardware problem

I need a modders help to explain what is wrong and what i can do to fix it.
can just the Charge stop working while the whole PSP still works?

I have more than one battery and i did try different Chargers. its a Hardware issue.
Right now i am using a old broken PSP 2000 to charge my batteries

My psp is a PSP 3000 God of War Black and Red Model

Well it sounds either like you blew a fuse or are SOL and have a fried motherboard. I dont know if the PSP 3000 has a power fuse like the psp 1000 did but then again if you did blow that then you wouldnt even get the psp to turn on i think...

You cant try leaving the battery out of it for a few days and let it reset itself. that MAY help.

and well the PSP does work but would the USB also not work if the Fuse is blown?

well asuming that there is a power fuse, then no it would'nt turn on if the fuse was blown. I don't know if there is a fuse so im going to google it.

well if what you say is true then it wouldnt be the Fuse because everthing seems to be working but the USB and Charge port

Hook up a flashlight bulb to two wires. Connect the two wires to the two OUTSIDE contacts of your battery, don't mess with the one in the middle.

The bulb will light up and then fade.

Fire up your psp and test it out, you should be good.

Please explain how this would even work.
I am using Several Batteries this wouldnt make a difference. its the PSP that is having the problem not the Battery.

if i plug in the AC adapter with no battery in my PSP it still wouldnt turn on. + like i said above i am also having USB issue's after this situation

Ahh, gotcha. Sorry, despite reading your initial post I was under the impression your battery was at fault (in which case the fix I listed would work).

At this point I would seriously consider pulling out the multimeter and looking for continuity in your power circuit. This will help you isolate where your problem lies.
