The other day I was going through some things and found my old NES stuff and quickly saw much potential. I wanted to use the controller on my PC and further wanted to store the ROMs on the controller also so I did some shopping.
I bought a USB hub and a NES to USB converter chip, first thing I did was crack open the USB hub and remove the actual USB ports and original wire leaving me with this

Next was to open up and remove the USB port from an old 4GB flash drive I had laying around and wired everything up

Next I hot glued the flash drive and converter chip to the NES PCB

and cleaned up the wiring a bit

and last I had to grind down one of the posts on the back of the case so everything can fit

I will also be using this to store my school files and can't wait to see every ones reaction when I plug this into the computer

Can this be used on the ps3? I have been amazed at the different devices I've been able to plug into the ps3 and have them work. I allready know the usb storage will come up , Just wondering if the nes controller can be used with the ps3 for my emus.

if im right due to alot of fake ps3 controllers sony patched it so only there code on the bluetooth on the controller would work so i would say a no unless someone shows proof the patch never worked

Well case in point: my MS pc usb controller works just fine. Don't forget all my ps3's are on CFW.
-
the D-pad, A, and B all works fine on the PS3 but Start and Select register as A and B also, if you want to play mario your good but something like zelda its a no go

Thanks Pete. Side note I noticed some ps2 /usb adapters dont have full function , I wonder if the same is true here, if maybe we can find a nes/usb adapter that is more compliant with the ps3.

I got some 3rd party PS3 controllers in the mail today that also work on the PC if the PCB is small enough I am going to try and directly wire the NES PCB into the PS3 PCB, it would be sweet to use my NES and SNES pad on the PS3

the ps3 can detect any usb HID device. Ie, mice, keyboards, usb joypads. but with firmwares they block the ability for generic mac addresses from bluetooth devices (Chinese bluetooth controllers).
thanks why these joypads or "controllers" can be used on the ps3, pc, mac.
if you truely want a nes to usb adapter thats is the smallest. then try to look for v-usb and check out there project samples. you can configure them any way you want and it will work on pc, ps3, mac
