Title: need help with pic kit 2

hi i just bought a pic kit2 and i have no clue where to start or what to do.

i want to program pic12f683.
i would also like to know where to put it and how to program with it.like a tutorial on it.

Put the 12F683 (notch facing the top) in the top of the 18pin socket (top right) and plug everything in.

Download the PICKit 2 stand alone application, if you havent already installed it, HERE (http://ww1.microchip.com/downloads/en/DeviceDoc/PICkit%202%20v2.61.00%20Setup%20A.zip)

Install it, open it, load the desired hex file and hit program.

How does it hook together all it came was the pic kit and everything else no instruction or anything and it doesnt say anything

i keep getting a device error and the pic 12f683 isnt on here

the 12f683 isn't on where?

and can you give us more details on the "device error" or does it literally just say that?

it really says it and i found it you have to manually select the chip

Now i am getting vpp voltage level error.
check target & retry opperation
