Title: My First Controller paint jobs
Post by: n00b_MoDdEr on June 13, 2011, 09:53:41 PM
So a while ago I decided to paint and rapid fire mod a friends controller, as long as he gave me another controller in return (he has like 10). So after I did those, I wanted to try out a checker board. It turned out fairly nice, but I know you would rather see pics, so here they are:

What kind of paint do you use? e.g. Acrylic?

I just used DoItBest Brand Premium enamel, because that's just what I happened to have on me! Also, clear coat helps. :D

What the heck is adhesion promoter, is it just what it sounds like? Something to help the paint adhere to the controller? I haven't heard anyone talk about using it before.  Not to thread jack, but does anyone know of a good painting tutorial to get started with?

It act as a primer , Krylon fusion paints have this in them. its just to help the paint stick. personally using primer will do the same if you prep it the right way. sand before primer and after you primer.

Hi, Iam also from the Uk and I use Plastikote, it's a good paint and there super gloss range give a great effect!

I am painting my old xbox 360 in red gloss and I am going to upload the pics later this week.

and when it comes to painting them I do this

Sand down - Wash - Leave to dry - Adhesion Promoter (Plastic Primer) - First coat - Second Coat - and then maybe a lacquer or clear coat

It's a really good idea to sand down stuff especially used stuff otherwise scratches will show up :)
