Title: Puprle XBOX 360 Elite FINISHED!!!!!
Post by: Rodent on June 19, 2011, 03:37:39 PM: Ok guys thought i would try something different instead of LEDS or windows in the case modding, so I tried to take up painting, as of right now its just the Face plate, the paint is by Testors model paint. The color is Purple - licious, who comes up with these names...lol Just give me your thoughts , I just painted the Face plate, so far,

THings I might try or do ,

Painting the case to match, leaving the xbox 360 logo white and just finish painting the case
maybe add a 40 mm fan to the case above the gpu cooler to help keep it cool.

maybe even just a simple window. this is just the case I am doing then might sell it.

Yes it is really hard to find a really good purple. the color is Purple-licious...lol fits the color

Like i said, its so hard to get a good picture i have 3 different cameras and still cant get the lighting right to make the metal flake pop in the pics like it does under a light. . the color is awsome though. supose to rain to day here, so i will just be preping the case today I cant wait to get it done but i am in no hurry

I used a model paint for models, hobby shops or craft stores should have it, I didnt even have to prime the case, just sanded it with 600 grit and cleaned with soap and water.

the paint stuck great, then clear coated all with in about 2 hours had the faceplate done start to finish.

here is another pic of the case, started preping it today, had a bad spot in the case, said M$ ...lol and a spot where it look like a fan or grinder on the top of it, patched it with JB weld, reason being it wont shrink like bondo and i will only have to do it once to fill it not 3 or 4 times ,

EDIT: added another pic of the faceplate and after i sanded the jb weld down, started with 150 grit , then 220 grit then 600 grit final sand, smooth as can be now, just waiting on weather to permit to start painting it, and going to make controller case match the case now.

Still looks blue in some pics , i just dont get it ...lmao

Need some white joysticks now , and need to find a way to paint the grey parts on the controller motherboard, cant have gray on it...lol and find a hard drive and paint that white and purple. . I am not that good at painting but damn i can get some good ideas...lol

Post by: Rodent on June 26, 2011, 05:54:03 PM: Spray can, Testors model paint, 1842M Purple-Licious is the color, and cleared it with Krylon fusion clear, was scared it was going to screw it up but coming out better then i thought, for my first xbox 360 paint job, i am pretty happy with it so far.

never know till you try, and Thanks again to you and everyone else I hope to have it finished soon along with the controller, once painted and completed with the base color , I might try something more to add to the awsome color .

Its getting there slowly, supose to rain tomorrow so will be nothing but wet sanding tomorrow on the controller and the xbox case getting it ready for 2nd coat of clear on the case and 1st coat on the controller . then going to work something out with crazy-modder , I havent decided on the leds yet,

alll Purple leds in the xbox and the controller

or Purple and white leds in xbox and the controller

or Purple and whilte in both with blue power light for center on the Rol on xbox

Cleaned all the holes out, to make sure that the buttons all slided in nice. and that was a mistake the white but can hardly see it when the abxy buttons are in sanded thru the purple and after 3 coats of paint and 2 clear, i had enough time messing around trying to get it perfect

I know what you mean about not being able to get a good shot of leds, either their on or off or just glare out the camera. The white leds are super bright lol. Overall, that controller is REALLY nice!

Thanks denali, I may do some more to it depends, i want to practice up some airbrushing so may add something to this one or just leave this the way it is . I am starting on another one here soon.

Housings for the 360 are expensive as crap, there's no way I'm paying that much. I would love a blue xbox one day, but everytime I try and paint, something always goes wrong.

I'm willing to try again, if I have some guidance, and it looks like you're a PRO hahaha...

If I get time I will try and make a small tutorial on things you need , or what i used on here , I listed the paint i used in this thread, this was my first one I know i can do the next one even better will be even more patient then i was with this one. so when your ready or in the next day or so i can make a tut on how to paint or what i did to paint this xbox 360 thanks for the reply means the world to me that people like my work

Housings for the 360 are expensive as crap, there's no way I'm paying that much. I would love a blue xbox one day, but everytime I try and paint, something always goes wrong.
