my xbox keeps saying open tray i opened it and cleaned it and the lens. still nothing i checked if it was moved back but the lens is in the right place. i moved the little nob on the lens and it worked for a few then back to open tray i moved it more but every where i move it open tray still comes.
need help asap

Does the Tray open? may need to take the rubber ban and wash it , If the lasers having a problem moving might be the worm gear motor that is worn out, I have had to replace a few of them. also check the voltage coming in to the xbox becareful though not to short it out.
Edit if the laser might try cleaning it with some rubbing alcohol, and q- tip. might be dirt or hair keeping it from moving back and forth also. sorry went back and read it, see you did that, maybe a pot adjustment?, Only other thing i can think of off hand is that the soindle motor that spins the dvd could be giving you an error also.

ive checked evreything i cant find the problem i cleaned it and changed the lens

i just had one doing the same thing and i got lucky and the tray was just off the track put it back on works like a charm

I had the same exact problem last week that your having. I would get open tray but then i would open up the drive and move the lens to a new position and it would work every once in awhile. I found that the white piece that connects the laser to the worm gear is worn out so its not grabbing onto the gear and just stays in place as the gear turns. That white piece that connects to the lens will need replaced.

Man i can't spell that early in the morning ....LOL "soindle" ment spindle also meant what crazy said about the worm gear motor or the plastic part that it drives on, Sorry if I miss led you, must of been half asleep. hope to see you get it working.
EDIT: can you tell us what kind of dvd drive it is? cause I am having the same problem with mine, kind of.
Mine is a Hitachi 079fl dvd drve, so I tried a few things , first thing I tried was see if would read being this is one i just bought. so it would open the disk and then say reading then open tray error, so I opened it up and man is it filthy inside, checked to see if the laser would even come on or function with the top off, and got light and motion. on the laser but no spindle movement. On the Hitachi 79fl the spindle comes apart so I cleaned it and sprayed it with WD40 househole oil lubricate. got it to read audio cd now and a dvd cleanner dvd.
SO if you can tell us what kind of dvd drive it is, that will be more helpful some of these drives read as live drive ,(dont know how to explain it) but have to get them in to Mode b to do anything when flashing, maybe yours isnt locked out, was it flashed?
Reason I asked was someone tried to flash mine and think they didnt complete the flash . going to try to get in mode b and try again to see what happens to see if its flashed or not on my drive.

I have had that issues before as well I fixed it im trying trace back what i did to fix it.

well come to find out, mine was a bad laser. too bad the dvd drive dont match up!
