i just bought a psp and everything was working fine untill i tried to put the trigger lights in and then i have the lights working and when i go to put the screen back i hear sound but nothing on the screen just black and its not bricked

Look at it in the light and look really close and see if you can see anything. if you can like barely see the xmb icons and stuff your backlight went out, this happened to me one time when i was changing my case, but mine didnt go out when i plugged it in a bend the cord a little and that messed it up. check for kinks and bends in the backlight cable, which is the smalller skinny one. its its not messed up make sure its in there all the way.

Your backlight fuse is broken.
In this link you can see what it looks like: http://www.llamma.com/PSP/repair/images/PSP_fuse/Fd-Fuse.jpg
There are a few revisions of the psp 1000 motherboard, so It might be in a different location. It will always be labeled "FD" so you will be able to find it.
Put a solder ball on top of the fuse and bridge the two points, solder a wire so each point, or remove the fuse and bridge the connections... This will restore flow of voltage, and give your backlight power again!!
