Would you happen to know where you got the LEDs from? Otherwise we are guessing at the right resistor.

You dont want parallel (you have already seen why).

This circuit would work fine, but the resistor value depends on the color. It would be nice to have the spec sheet for the LEDs you have.

Im wondering why he would not want parallel?? Its way better to wire leds in parallel than series.

Hi I've got clear ABXY buttons which I put a different colour 0603 LED in, greed/blue/red/yellow. They are different voltages needing resistors and I can't get the circuit right. I wire them in parallel, the red led is bright, the yellow not so much, and green/blue dim.

Has anyone done this? I cant find a post / tutorial doing this (only same colour leds with a resistor).

My circuit:

I initially started a thread on an electronics forum in case anyone wants to understand the circuit:

Can you tell us which color you have where in your circuit?

Your only using 4 0603s with a 3v source, the only resistor you really need to use is the 100ohm for the transistor.

Size of the LED doesnt matter. Reds and greens are usually 1.8-2.2V forward voltage. Blue and whites are usually 3.0-3.3V forward voltage (and these you can get away with no resistor).

What I mean by not going parallel is not putting all 4 LEDs parallel and using a single resistor for all 4 of them. You want to power each LED individually with its own resistor.

The schematic above I am assuming you would use on a controller that did not have a 3V swicthed source (anything other than older CG). The transistor would be used to power the LEDs off with the analog supply voltage. In this case, the transistor would also have a voltage drop, and you would definately not want resistors on blue or white.

Using the transistor may make the blue too dim also.

PS: On a seperate note, if you havent drilled out the buttons completely, most of these mods people use white LEDs and you can then use the transistor as it would dim the LED just enough to make the buttons glow instead of becoming spot lights.

They use 22 Ohm resistors, but if you use a transistor, I would go without.

Hazer is correct there. I've done the mod with a white set and using 5mm LEDs.

Didn't use any resistors, with the 2.7ish V you get from AAs the brightness on all the LEDs was ok, you should be fine. They look a bit spotty in the picture but photographing LEDs is always a pain! Looking at your LEDs I'd say the yellow LEDs are probably of the best quality and you should probably buy all your LEDs from that supplier in the future

Its always nice to see LEDs!
Good work m8 its not that easy working with 0603 leds the controller looks amazing
