Title: red hardrive led help
Post by: DARk_ANGEL on September 09, 2011, 04:14:56 AM: i just bought 2 red leds from radio shack and i wanna put them into my hard drive but donot know what resistor to use any help ill post the specs below

This (probably) explains why normal 3.5" sata drives won't even spin up (missing 12V). So if you want to use a 3.5" drive you need to connect your own 12V.

i would personally use 100ohm 1/4 watt

wattage will not effect the ohms it is how much power the resistor can handle before it fails. Also 1/4 watts are easier to find.
