Title: Plug and Play cable pinout? Communication lines?
Post by: SycoPthicManiac on December 16, 2011, 05:15:59 AM
I was wondering if anyone has the pinout info for the plug and play wireless charge usb cable. I am looking to do a user programmable setup and would like to utilize the cable for communication purposes.

Thanks for all of your help people!!

TP23 and the point next to it are the data lines.

So is this correct? Is there an in/out or either way does not matter? I notice 7 pins in the connector itself and only 5 points have been pointed out.

One of those points is data+ the other is data- . One extra point is extra ground , other I believe is for battery charge indication. Not 100% on the last part.

The USB portion of the cable has nothing at all to do with the controller charging, it's straight thru. There is also no controller data communication over the USB aside from it telling the 360 that it can turn itself off after it's done charging.

If you're looking to duplicate what the PnC cables does, then in all seriousness just get one, they are less that $5 on eBay with free shipping and you'll spend far more than that in time making your own.

If you want to know how it works, then again get one and tear it apart and take the DMM to it. I've only torn down 2, an official PnC cable (incomplete schematic below) and then a Nyko one (much simpler inside) that I can't find the data for right now as it's pushing being a decade old and is who knows where, and I never bothered with completing any of it as they were cheap even back then and really not worth the effort.

Wow dude thanks for all of that,so wait, let me get this straight, when i want a wireless controller to be wired, even using the PnC cable,it still won't work to use it as wired, because my controller currently isn't in the best shape, and it keeps on disconnecting and won't stay connected to the Xbox. And other solutions  brought up using a PnC cable to allow it to go through the Xbox wired. Thanks again for the schematic bro, that is impressive, and i really do thank you for making that. And all the info, thanks again! :faint:

If you want a wired 360 controller, that's what they made the wired ones for. Even plugged up the wireless controller is still wireless. The new XB1 controller switches to a wired when its PnC cable is plugged in, but the 360 wireless controller does not, it's still wireless, it just gets power from the PnC cable is all.

If you have a chrome shell that will cause interference, as will some types of paints.
