Basic overview layout of how the main components are going to be mounted into the base plexi. (There are tons of other parts that need to be added here and there)

I will watch over this topic like a hawk to see how you make the Xbox motherboard thinner.

why don't you go and try to desolder a through hole components off of the mother board and then come back and say something. I can't even do it... the solder just dont want to melt it is ridiculous.

thats due to your iron probably, get yourself a nice weller station with a reasonably sized chisel tip, then just add lead solder and solder wick and they come off a treat ;)

I have my iron set to 900F and they don't budge.

the only other way would be a heatgun then and its too risky as you might melt one of the chips if you aren't careful

what i did for my build.... (not finished yet) is i relocated the usb ports (use a heat gun and cover the rest of the board w/ a couple layers of foil to avoid damage) and then i cut my heat sinks down and mounted some small fans (max 12v input and did the 12v fan mod on them) they are very quiet compaired to the stock xbox fans.... i plan to install a thermometer to avoid over heating but i thin i can keep it pretty cool and who hope this helps
