About electronics or computers you either dont understand or want to learn, be it logic and logic gates, or series and parallel resistors, GO!

start with the basic stuff, and be general, with logic I could start with the gates then move into stuff like bolean algebra

There is a compiler that you can use to compile BASIC code for microchips.  Personally, I like to use assembly.  Granted this is the assembly in terms of the microchips native language, not the old computer assembly.  Assembly is the commands that are outlined in the microchip datasheet.  That is what hazer's code it written in, and that is how I learned.  Some day when I have some free time (after I'm married, lol) I want to learn C++ programming for microchips, it can be a lot simpler.  That being said, assembly is very straight forward, if you understand logic conditions that is what most everything runs off of.

I call BS, yes there's a "honey do" list.. but that list is collecting dust because his time IS spent doing that "other" stuff.
