Hey guys I need assistance on getting my PS3 the way for me. Im having issues with BR it spins and what not but doesnt read the disc and when it trys it attends to show lag on the screen.
Also I have some questions about getting it jailbreaked.
-If I get it jailbreaked will I still be able to get on PSN and play with my friends?
-Is there risks in having this done once its done?

I'm not much of an expert on the BR Drive, but I do know that there are a number of things that could be the problem yet more information would be needed.
Have you swapped out the drive for another one,,, are you running leds, fans, etc from the BR power?
I have had the same problem but from blowing a chip on the bottom of the motherboard from drawing too much power from it. It was hard to replace but it was successful and the system is still running strong.
Jailbreaking I do have some experience with.
If you jailbreak you will not be able to access the PSN network as you will be banned shortly after. (there are ways around this but they are very risky and not reliable)
Are you are on 3.41 Firmware? If so you should not be able to access the network anyways, by the way that is a fairly rare firmware.
If you are above firmware 3.55 it is near impossible yet not completely impossible to jailbreak.
There are very little risks in having this done, many of the bricked PS3's occurred at the beginning stages of jailbreaking and most of all errors have been fixed (There are also ways to un-brick your system if it happens(which is a very low chance))
Once you have installed CFW it is very easy to uninstall it and return to OFW with very little issue, I have Jailbroken many PS3's and reverted them back to regular firmware, aswell as played online afterwards without issue.

He is running 3.41 firmware that i can confirm for him.. I tried to help but didnt know much about the PS3.. I reflowed it for him and the Hard Drive was corrupt. wouldn't do anything , After Reflow the system is opertating , would a 12volt fan mod make any difference? Hard Drive has been upgraded to 160gb which is there now. I have been keeping in touch with him..

First, do not install cfw with out fixing that brdrive. Do not update. If you want psn and cfw. You will need a dual boot solution. The e3 dual boot flasher is very easy to use and install. But does not work w all ps3 types. The progskeet is more universal but is a lil harder to instal and way more intense running it. But its a super device. Both optionz will cost around 100$.
As far as the brdrive i need more info.

Alright thats a lot of information I thank you guys for you time in delivering it. Um for the br I will make a video of it and show you everything if that can help you guys decide what the issue could possibly be.

I see what your saying, about the laser not reading.... looks like maybe you can change the worm gear motor maybe its bad... I will see if the one i got here matches it and send to you .

Things a lil loud also... did you break it down and do thermal paste yet?
One quick thing to try is to see if the worm gear mech is spinning. try manually spinning the gear. It might just be hung up .

I reflowed this PS3 For him, and added the 12volt fan mod to it. This console had the YLOD there is Proof my Reflow works , ASK BlazinKaos what the turn around time was for Reflow. IF i would of had a hard drive that worked and could of done what he has done I could of gone futher and tried to get this working for him... BlazinKaos is a very good customer.

I have a spare dock , the blu-ray laser is bad in it but you can try the worm gear motor will shipp out today

You should confirm blueray laser is functioning also. In demo video that was a cd i seen. Does the laser do anything with a blueray in? not side to side motion but the focus motion, maybe try to peek in from the back?

Try playing a regular DVD in it , see if that works, and i guess it depends if its a single laser or dual laser... but i dont see the worm gear motor moving at all in the video.

This is a cechh correct? This is the last version of fat. its a 40gb I believe ? This is after the switch.

I couldnt tell you , its different then the 40gb i have seen... most of the 40gb i have worked on all have metal power supply not the black plastic ones like this one and the hdd goes in face first not on its side.

I see the laser for both dvd and blueray but when it was reading the blueray I moter moved a lil bit.

Ok well the motor it jolted just a lil bit with game but everything else it didnt. But if i move the laser far back it will move it forward when putting in the disc. I dont know how else to test it.

Does that part come with motor assembly ? Did you visually confirm dual laser?

I know that he said the laser would work and show signs of activity, which i was geting also when I had it... he is just buying the dock has spindle motor and worm gear motor... so if he puts the his laser in hopefully will work.

They look the same from the images of the one on ebay. But the only catch i see on the image on ebay is that it shows as a CCA not ACA.

You would have to read the description but i am sure it comes with everything but the laser I have bought from them before
