hey Guys
I recently bought myself the ICSP k150 PIC Programmer. http://www.ebay.com/itm/260974941446?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649#ht_2916wt_1396 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/260974941446?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649#ht_2916wt_1396)
anyway i installed Winpic800 and i connect the programmer up through USB. Then i open the hex with winpic it says:
=======================
ERROR -> C:\----File Path---
Line : 34
Invlid address for selecred Device
? Continue and truncate data ?
=======================
I click YES then
then i press CTRL + P to write to the PIC12F683 it throws this error
=======================
Failed to open Ind.#0
=======================
SO in short im at a loss, do i need a driver for my programmer cuz i cant find anything :l. Or is my OS just messed up because my PC is getting so Effed up lately
PS:im running VISTA

Think you need this Libwin-32
http://sourceforge.net/projects/libusb-win32/ (http://sourceforge.net/projects/libusb-win32/)
-
try using the pickit2 software not winpic, if you are going to use winpic, shorten the file path as much as possible, I think it is limited to a 30 character total file path and as rodent said you will need a usb driver.
-
if the file location is too long it won't work in winpic. Try moving the file to C:/ directory and no subfolders

I decided to wait on this programmer, I'm on my to recover my PC, so I;m going to build the programmer in this thread --> https://www.acidmods.com/forum/index.php/topic,22283.0.html (https://www.acidmods.com/forum/index.php/topic,22283.0.html)
but i want to know, the USB version, is it just USB powered? or do you write through usb?
and serial port, it looks like a VGA port right? does PC's come with it, or do i need to buy a PCI serial port thingy? or can i somehow connect the programmer directly to my PC motherboard? [i don't really care about the PC I'm planning on using, i got all the parts from trash :D:D]
EDIT: just remembered that my programmer came with an ICSP cable? lol i have no clue what to do with it? im a total newb to this stuff.
edit
GOt all the parts for the desktop version, for 1.2$ LOL, anyway cant i skip using a serial port, and put it directly to the mobo of my PC?
If I use something like this --> http://www.ebay.com/itm/MOTHERBOARD-COM-PORT-SERIAL-RIBBON-CABLE-BRACKET-PC-NEW-/160493426554?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item255e27577a (http://www.ebay.com/itm/MOTHERBOARD-COM-PORT-SERIAL-RIBBON-CABLE-BRACKET-PC-NEW-/160493426554?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item255e27577a)
cant i skip using another cable from my programmer, and connect the programmer to the 9 pin cable going to the motherboard?
[gmod]please do not double post use the edit button next time[/gmod]

you need to stick with your programer, and make it work. the DYI programer is old, and uses a com port (not VGA) desktops used to have these com ports and they supplied 5v, then as they were being phased out, the newer ones did not supply 5v so the usb powered option was added to the DYI programer, but it still reads and writes through the com port. New computers do not have this port.
the icsp cable is probably above your head atm. put it away for now.
the best advice I can give you is use the programmer you bought, find out why it dont work,,,,, read my previous reply!!
