Hey Guys, I was thinking that afer the contest, i Wanto make a controller for myself, i was thinking of internalizing a rechargeble battery, because theres never batteryies around when i need em. I have Surfed and Searched the web, but couldn't find any solid info. The only thing I came across with a bit of a tutorial was how to internalize a Play and Charge kit, which i'm not really interested in, i'd rather get my own battery, and build a circuit, or buy a charging board for it.
I know alot of you guys have done this mod, Like phantomz0 Controller he has in the Back to School Contest..
Can anyone help me out? What spec Battery do i need? and what would the Charging board need to be? If this is to hard to do, ill probaly pull apart a Play and Charge kit and internalize it

Ive done this mod a few times, you need a battery that will supply about 3v. I use a 3.6v CR123A they are 4.2v when fully charged, the controller dosnt seem to mind the extra voltage
this is the charger im using http://dx.com/p/mini-usb-1a-lithium-battery-charging-board-charger-144856 (http://dx.com/p/mini-usb-1a-lithium-battery-charging-board-charger-144856) you can adjust the charge rate by swapping out a resistor

Ok awesome! thanks for the info, what resistor and Ohm should i change on that board to bring the charge rate down?
yeah i checked out that tut, i think ill finish it so other people can use the tut.

It depends what capacity battery you have, heres the data sheet for the charger http://pds24.egloos.com/pds/201206/07/08/TP4056Eng.pdf (http://pds24.egloos.com/pds/201206/07/08/TP4056Eng.pdf) . You need to change the resistor between pin 2 and ground, scroll down to Rprog Current Setting on the right side of the page it will tell you what resistor to use. Be careful with li-ion batterys, they can explode if they arent charged properly :yess:

Forgive me if this sounds silly as im still new to this still, so if your CR123 battery was a 1000mA you would just leave that resistor at its current 1.2k value? also if you were to have two of these batteries in the controller would you still leave it at the same value? sorry if it all seems noobish of me but im very keen to try this :help:
