So im building a watercooled ps3 in custom case about the size of pc case but the problem im having now is when i turn on it loads up fine when i insert disk it wont read it even though it spins and i have 3.55cfw when i try to load something like multiman etc the screen goes black and nothing happens i have to turn off and restart.
the cables for the bluray drive have been extended i.e wires for power and ribbon cable i got 2 connections off old bluray boards and joined them together as cant find ribbon cable that is long enough.
PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME.

Sounds like the laser is going bad to me, it starts to load, once it gets to a certain spot it fails to read disk , usually when i do these i replace the deck and the laser all in ..... incase its the drive motor for the laser , usually nothing more then that.

I assume this worked before you extended the ribbon cable, I would also assume there inlies your problem

Thanks guys but laser is good it wont even show on screen that it is spinning up the disk and same thing happens when i try to load up things like mulitman ive gone through all 60 pins to check that they are not shorting out and im fairly confident that they are all good i did have an idea though because i extend the cable i might have cable going into bluray drive going the wrong way i.e left to right instead of right to left. not sure if thats clear or not but ill try turn ribbon cable around today.
