Hey guys,
I'm new to the forum so please correct me if this is the wrong placement.
Recently I made a homemade "scuf" style controller with tact switches and soldering to board. Before reassembling the controller I popped the battery pack in and sync was fine and everything worked properly. Once I screwed everything back and powered on, all of a sudden controller is not syncing and the LEDs seem to blink faster than normal when trying to sync with the xbox. I took everything apart to see if I could make out what was wrong but nothing seems to have worked. Any thoughts on what could have went wrong or how to fix this situation? Thanks guys.

provide pictures of the install. could a wire have pinched when reassembling?

I'm a relative noob at modding controllers compared to some of these other guys, but I always had a problem reassembling the controller if I didn't screw in the screw closest to the Sync button first. Somehow it would keep binding and disabling the sync button.
I have no idea if it is the same problem, but I thought I would throw it out there.

I think I know what is your problem, in CG2 controllers the crystal which control sync is in the back side so that once you put the screws one of them can create problems. There is a mod to change the crystal of position. Check this:

The crystal should be like this:
