Hi, I was on YouTube when my xbox turned its self off and showed up a red light on the power button, and now the red light will no go away ... when I turn the xbox on i get a green light and then a second later I get the red light and then nothing happens, does anyone know a solution to this or why is it doing this ?
I have checked all the leads are in correct, I have took the power supply out and left it out for 20 minutes but still nothing.

try a different power supply, if the red dot still exist and you made sure all the connections are good, then it just rdod on you.
-
I tried my power supply on another xbox and it works fine.

the red light on the slim are similar to the red rings.

Well its similar to that yes, When I press the power button it lights up green for about 1 second and then goes red.

could be a couple of things but in the video i ended up removing the X-Clamp and bolting the heat sink down with nylon and metal washers as you do with the phat consoles i have also had ones where the south bridge needed to be reflowed. if you press on the southbridge then try to boot it you can tell if that is the issue mine would boot if i would press it down so needed to reflow it. possible the CPU/GPU might need same
-
I left the xbox on side for a day or two not connected to anything and today I have just plugged it in to see if the problem is still there and for some reason it seems to be okay ... is this normal ?
-
Sounds Like The Southbridge Needs To Be Reflowed Or Replaced.

Could damp cause this ?
I keep it in a conservatory and in this cold weather the conservatory seems to get damp

No i don't think that would be the issue reason your getting red dot of death is cause there is a cold solder joint somewhere or it isn't making the connection that is needed to boot the console properly
