post up the instructions that you used as well. and use the macro/flower option and take close up shots of your soldering.
it looks as though the transistor is shorting out to a solder pad on the main board.

Here are the instructions i followed http://www.modiify.com/media/xboxledbumpers.pdf (http://www.modiify.com/media/xboxledbumpers.pdf)
And here are some more pictures of the soldering.

for starters, the instructions are for the matrix 2 controllers, you have a cg2 controller.
the instructions said to use tp8 for the cg1/2 boards.
https://www.acidmods.com/forum/index.php/topic,34543.0.html (https://www.acidmods.com/forum/index.php/topic,34543.0.html)
heres a picture of your cg2 board. tp 8 is located at the top of the big black chip just top of the orange color trace.
-
WOW thanks man, I feel so stupid now lol, I couldn't find the TP8 for ages.
-
no problem, let us know if it works.

LOl first of all, this is not a bumper.... the bumper plate is on the top of the controller. The bottom part you are showing in the pictures and instructions is actually called a mic bezel. I would not buy anything from someone who does not know the difference.
Secondly as noted for your controller you will need to use TP 8, but in my experience, you will need another resistor to ensure there is no back feed. try it as is, and if after a bit of time playing, the controller may randomly shut off, or just un-sinc from the xbox. If this happens and it probably will, get back to me and we will go from there.
What did you pay for this kit? they sent you about $5.00 work of parts. they should have spent an extra two dollars and used an opto in place of the transistor.
Good luck.

considering the price there selling at is to be 2.69 euro it wouldn't of hurt to add the extra

I called it a bumper because I was just going off what he website has listed it as, it cost me £2.69.

this is a cool mod, im gonna make my own version of it tho. Prolly install a pot to adjust brightness (also saves battery), and a flasher/fader... i didnt know they had just these parts in clear... i like having my controller NOT totally clear and only having lights as accents not over powering blinding distractions... thanks for this and matt's right i'd add the extra resistor just to be safe... i'd hate to be in the middle of a game and get my controller dc'ed at a critical moment.

use an Optocoupler and drop the transistor all together for a better switch. CG1 could wire direct to the mic with only a limiting resistor.
