Title: racing tree light project..need help

can someone help me with the simplest schematics as possible on doing racing tree lights..

i need this project for our upcoming racing event..any help would be much appreciated..

btw im planning to use 4 bulbs and 12v battery as power source..

My dad and I built one when i was a kid i would have to go back and look at it , due to my dad helped me make one for my tyco race track  has red lights for when  you leave to soon and has stage and 3 yellows and green its been a long time but was cool when i was a kid  and i am sure now days it could be made alot easier then it was  back then
