Title: Elite 2 only turning on with USB-C cable. Won't turn on without it

I have one too. I change the battery and status did not change

Wont turn on or wont sync?

If you specifically mean power and not sync, the next culprit to check would be the Xbox home button itself since its a momentary switch instead of a membrane.

Hearing it click does not mean it isnt faulty. This is also the same reason the bumpers sometimes double click, faulty momentary switches.

Check it with a multimeter in continuity then check its traces and solder joints.

I tested it with working board and it still did not power on. Something else is going on. Is there anything else I can look at?

Check the gold spring on the analog board and the pads they line up with on the power board.
You can bridge the signal and ground with tweezers on the Xbox button to by pass it.

Does it charge on the dock?

Other wise check the gold spring between the boards as mentioned above.
