Title: USB connection problem with JDM-020 and JDM-030
Post by: kaitsu on April 15, 2022, 11:12:20 AM
Hello everyone, I have the same problem on 2 different controllers JDM-020 and JDM-030. The controllers are not recognized by USB cable. They charge the battery correctly and I can connect them in bluetooth but impossible by cable. I changed the USB pcbs with new ones. I couldn't find any threads with this problem. Do you know what component can cause this failure? Thank you very much

Remove the TVS Diode protection chip for the USB data lines and see if they work then. On the -020, it's on the top side of the motherboard, small 5 pin chip just above the left stick. On the -030, it's on the bottom side of the motherboard, 5 pin chip just below the connector that goes to the USB/LED board.

Hi, same for the JDM-040? I have one that does charge and have +3v on data lines but still not detected via usb. On pc windows detects an unknown device.

It's worth a try, if it doesn't work you can always put it right back on. It's in the same place as the -030, just under the connector there.

Also note, the -030 has another 5 pin protection chip on the USB/LED board, could be that one is bad versus the one on the motherboard.

Hi.

TVS Diode chip (motherboard side) removed on JDM-030 and it's working again, thanks for the suggestion. Now we need the replacement part, do you have buy link or the part model/name?.
