Title: JDM-040 strange issue
Post by: mortal91 on July 14, 2022, 08:21:02 AM
Hi guys!

I have the following problem with the JDM-040 board. When I move the left stick backwards (in my direction), from this moment L2 and R2 are constantly triggered.
If I touch the marked pins (#2 & #3) or move the left stick forwards, the triggering is gone.

I have reflowed this chip (#1), but it doesn't helped:

I also checked all the components around it, it's nothing shorted.

Do you have any ideas? Thanks in advance!

The controller needs to be together for it to work properly. There are Pull-Up Resistors that are on the Flex board with the button contacts on it. If that is not present, then the L2/R2 lines are floating and will do all manner of weird things.

Thank you for this information, RDC! Once I have new thumb sticks and replaced them, I'm gonna put it together and try it.

So I did just put it together after soldering 2 new thumbsticks. But it's still the same. The thumbsticks are drifting now and the L2/R2 are triggered.
I have also replaced the flex board, it didn't solve the problem also.

You mentioned pull-up resistors. Where are those to find?
Do you have any other ideas i could try?

Thank you in advance!

hello, I think you probably used hot air to remove the analog, and in this process you had to bend the board a little, do the following place a piece of tape folded several times and place it under the flex where it makes contact with the board!! this will probably solve your problem!! If it solves or doesn't solve return here and tell us to help other people!!

Yes, I used hot air to remove the analogs. I did what you recommended, but unfortunately it still doesn't work. Do you have any other ideas? Thanks in advance! :)

Is the small piece of foam still under the contacts of the flex board?
