Title: Can someone help me with leds
Post by: Mxr708 on July 11, 2007, 12:04:48 PM
Okay im wanting to put red leds in my ps2 in the little grill thing on the front. on the power board i know of a 12 volt point where i can connect my leds to. my question is if i run a lead wire from the 12 volt point and run all of my leds to the lead wire i plan to put five will it be to much and blow them. i dont know much avout electricity but i thought i since it is putting out a constant 12 volts that the power could exceed it and the electricity would spread out along the five leds. im using 5 mm red leds with a typical voltage of 2.25 and a max of 2.6 volts.
thnx in advance

Use A Resistor, its not the voltage that lower, its the amperage. so a longer distance needs more amps.

Try this Resistor Calculator (http://led.linear1.org/1led.wiz)
