Hi RDC - thanks for all of the help over the YEARS!

I have another brand new 1914 controller where the guide button is not functioning for anything besides the power on "press". It is an MCU board problem. There is one more weird symptom - when it powers on via USB, the power-on vibration is very subtle and short. When I do the same thing with a known-working controller, the power-on vibration is stronger and lasts at least twice as long.

Hi, ive already change the conductive film, and still not working. Ive tried to test the motherboard on a different controller, a working one, and its the same, R1R2 not working. I think is a motherboard issue, any clue?

Check R35 on the top board, 0 ohm jumper. After that, make sure the trace is good from the Guide button to J3p11. If that's good, then look on the bottom board and make sure CR1 is still on there, if it is, then look for trace damage.

That description of the problem "works with USB but not from batteries" is most often a problem with the top board. If you have tried another known good top board though, then it could be an issue with a damaged trace on the bottom board or the MCU. Does the Guide button work when USB is plugged in?

Hi RDC

I am a Rocky trying to repair my 1914 controller.
Its symptoms is no vibration at all and no led on Xbox ligo button.


I checked TP36 it seems no voltage, and I suspect probably the U2 is not working and somewhere go shortage cos button board is little bit heated.
I don't know how to check and where to check cos U2 is blocked by button board.

I am pretty sure the problem is not in button board cos replace is same problem.
However, it is fully functional when I connect it with usb cable.

Can you help me to pin the problem？

So I don't know where to check now. I've replaced the battery and that didn't help. I can plug in the USB-C and it powers on just fine. If I unplug it, the on button will flash two minute then shut off. Seems like it's not a battery issue. So it's just when trying to turn it on with the On (xbox) button it doesn't turn on. I am able to connect to bluetooth after unplugging it as well and it will stay on. Actually it's just the button itself it seems as when I press it, it also doesn't bring up the home screen. Not sure what the issue is. Will see if I notice anything.

PS3 / Input impedance of the BT-WF module?

Please advise, what should the input impedance of the Bluetooth-WiFi module be? The 1.8V voltage regulator has died ? there is 5V at the input, but 0V at the output. However, the input impedance of the BT-WF module is less than 5 ohms. I suspect that it has departed to the other world and taken the voltage regulator with it.

By motion, do you mean the gyroscope/accelerometer functionality? If so, the IMU which handles it is in the top-left corner of side B on BDM-020 and later (top-right on BDM-010 I think?). It's hard to figure out what's wrong without probing it with a logic analyzer or oscillator, but I'd start off by seeing if there's something obviously wrong in that area.
