slim downgrading question.

i apoligise if this is a silly question but i'm new to all this psp lark

i currently have a fat psp with 3.71 m33-4 on it(an a recently fitted clear case which looks smart)

i've been offered a smart deal on a slim - the idea being that i can use the slim pretty much as standard while the fat becomes a project psp.

but i want to make sure i'll be able to run CFW on it.

now to the questions lol
can you only downgrade a slim with pandora?(cause that confuses the hell out of me lol)
or whats the latest firmware that can be downgraded using software?

ps i don't know what the slim is currently running but my mate is gonna check tonight an let me know.

latest firmware you can downgrade without the pandora is 3.50, but uses a copy of exploited lumines umd.
