Extending the memory of a memory card, is it possible?
« on: February 10, 2008, 10:36:37 AM »
I wanted to know if in anyway possible, can you extend the memory of your memory card by inserting more memory, like soldering the memory from a USB drive  that has like 1GB on the USB?

sorry to say dude but it would be very very very very very very very hard, you might b able to if you can find or reverse the pinouts on the memory unit then you migt be able to hardwire some other storage device with similar pinouts onto it

Does the ps2 try to memorize what exactly is in the memory card, in terms of hardware?

no the ps2 itself doesnt, but the memory card does,it does not however identify what the memory is as a chip (model no.),it only identifies its capacity and saves on it,so long as the ps2 can access the memory which memory you put in there does not matter as the chip itself is not identified,as i said alreayd all that identified is the capacity and items on it

Hmmm well then by this logic, the ps2 memory card can have added memory if I get it formatted, basically I'll have a blank usb drive and I'll rewire the card so that it reads my memory card and ignores the chip. My only real issue is finding a spot to put it so that it runs with the circuit w/o allowing the old memory to get in the way

it may be easy to get a off market memory card and do stuff to it
However today I was brutally raped by a door handle, and none of my friends helped me up off the floor after ten minutes, instead they all teabaged me, all 10 of them...

If you own every PS2 game out then i would see why you would want to do this.

It's a ps2 memory card Ryan :p, I don't use it for media, didn;t even think you could :P I have alot of pictures from MGS3 that are hot asian chick posters random boss fight pictures. I also got alot of replays and with just 1 gig, I can basically have a memory card that can allow me to make multiple saves whenever I'm playing FF.
