dented case
« on: February 04, 2008, 12:41:07 PM »
i dropped my mbp today, about 2 feet i think, and the area in the front around the optical drive is bent/dented
the optical works just fine, cd's in and out, but the issue is some innard exposure and how it raises the wristrest so the screen when closed isnt level with the left side, so its not closed really nicely

im taking it to my local apple store, but just wondering, whats the turnaround time? and will they fix it instore or ship it out to texas to repair?

I agree with tech, they will probably preform a case swap. Although I dont believe they will do it inhouse since its a waranty thing and most stores arnt equipped to deal with it... Maybe yours is though.

it may be something they do in house as they swapped my sisters lcd and top casing in store - took about 3 days as they had the parts in but will take longer if they dont have a part. make a backup and say its really important for school and be cheeky and ask if they can just swap it out for you instead

i am not responsible for what i do or my advice

You can  pay them the price for the part, and they'll fix it, or you could try and make something go wrong, as they usually fix alot of things when reparing

well robins got it, you go in there and pitch a fit and they will just about bend over backwards to help you out. they DO NOT like having other potential customers witnessing problems current customers are having.

nope, its gona be 600$ out of my pocket  :cry2:

i have apple care, but this dosn't cover it

now i owe my parents 600..that i dont have, plus i have to wait 5-7 days to get it back

and if any damage was done to the hard drive and they pick that up, then they will replace it meaning i gotta replace all my stuff (which in osx isnt hard becuase of time machine) but the real annoyance of that would be me having to reinstall winodws for the, literally, 15th time
