How to connect PS3 (or X-BOX) joystick to PSP SLIM ?
« on: January 26, 2008, 06:11:20 AM »
Hello,
I have health problem with gaming on PSP SLIM.
I play everyday and my hands hurt me a lot.

I need connect to my PSP external joystick (PS3 or XBOX).
Big joystick is for my hands better. I play too on PS2 and no problemo.

But HOW ?

1. connecting hard wires from PSP SLIM to potentiometers of PS2 Joystick.
-No diagrams how to do it on SLIM.
-need open PSP and solder inside and It is hard work.

2. Connecting external joystick thru WiFi.
  -nobody try it.
-Only XBOX WiFi joystick possible. Has it real WiFi or only 2.4GHz transmit ?
   (PS3 is using bluetooth).
  +No wires.

3. Connecting external joystick thru USB.
-No diagrams how to do it on SLIM.
Is possible to connect it ? I think no. Because PSP and Joy are not USB HOST.
Use between USB Host modul ?
  I hate PC as Host!

If anybody can help, please writte here.

a ps3 controller is possible even wirelessly, but it would be very hard and the only way it could be internal is if you remove the umd drive, lots of people on this site could do it but personally i dont have the money i dont have the time and i dont have the patience, just start on easier mods 1st like a razor to understand the basic principaks of how it all works, there could never be a tut it'd be way too long, just do some easy mods and learn from those, retrofits aint easy i telly you!

To all of you crying about lag and kicks, remember… when Jesus died, took him 3 days to respawn. Now THAT is lag.

If You mean this Bluetooth connection,

https://www.acidmods.com/forum/index.php?topic=10638.0

so it is not possible to connect Joystick to PSP, because it is connected only to audio (headphones) output of PSP.
It is only for audio transmision.

as we always say on acidmods not necessarily, basically what you need is a pic microcontroller and a bluetooth interface ic and aerial, you are then going to have wire the bluetooth antenna and ic to the pic, then program the pic to convert the button signals to activate relays which make the connection/button press, trust me dude begin way way smaller,it aint setting this mod up its actualy soldering it in and being able to close it will be hard, and no way will u be able to keep the umd drive thats the only place the wiring could fit, your in over your head try and retrofit something simpler like a snes controller
to sum it all up,you could almost modify the bluetooth transmitter for the psp bluetooth audio mod to work with this, always remember that just because its a blueooth audio transmitter, dont mean it can only transmit audio  :victory:
(and i dont even know how you could tell the pic to conert the analog stick signals.....but i'm sure somebody does....somewhere in the universe)

Thank You for ideas.

"1". All sounds interresting.
...somewhere in universe...it talks all.
Very difficult. For me closed way.

What about points "2" and "3" in my question on top of thread.

Esp. "3" Intelligent wiring PS3 controller thru real USB to PSP.
I was thinking about using external USB HOST modul between and in PSP use Plugin.
I think is it not so big SCIFI.

Thanx again.

in theory it is possible but you'd have to be very good at psp programming and would have to create a driver for the controller for the psp to respond to it,you'll also have to wait til the usb host board is finished,retrofitting/hardwiring controllers to the slim is much harder than the phat just do it on a phat 1st

to do this you are gona need a lot of time, money and skill though it is posible. If you want to wirelessly connect a ps3 controller(not sure it this can be done) you will also have to write a plugin/program for the psp  gud luck.
