Doesn't the touch already have a speaker..?

no the iphone does though :winker:
Yes it does. If your not jailbroken, or on any jailbroken fw except 1.1.3(only one that doesn't work for me) then go into Installer and download the Advanced Preferences app, then go into the Apple settings app that comes on the iTouch and go down to the advanced settings, and go into Sounds and mess with everything, you can hear the default ringtones too.

Or an easier way, just go into Settings>General>Sound Effects>Speaker. Then go into something liek Safari, and type something and you hear the speaker sounds. Or hit the sleep button and you'll hear it.

It only works for system sounds though, there's no speaker for music and everything else, So damnit PvP go but that :censored: in there! Once I get a second iTouch I'm modding mine too, no matter what. As long as I have 1 working one I'm happy :D

well ill have to search around for an ultra thin speaker and grill and see whats up with it. more than likely its going to be wired to the headphone jack with an off/off switch.

and by thin you mean THIN. nobody wants the feel of a ipod touch to go away from a intruding speaker on the back
sounds like it will be fun though... i just dont see where youd need leds though
maybe a changing one, off when shut down, fading when sleep, on when on, youll just need to find all the proper solder points on it

the regular ipods are shorter, so youd have to do something about that

Cut out the apple logo and replace with frosted plastic?

ooh!

Frosted acrylic like 2mm tall all around the join of front and back, give you more room, and led potential.

i like the speeker idea and if you do what zani said and put a bit of frosted acrylic around the join and then have the thin speeker inside and like perforate the backplate a bit with a few holes or cut the apple logo out for the sound to get out of there

i am not responsible for what i do or my advice

That is a good idea, so I decided to try it on my 2nd Gen nano. I swapped the battey out with a 1st gen nano battery so there's more room. and I took a little speaker out of an extra pair of earbuds. But now that I think about it....I drilled the hole in the wrong damn place >:[

honestly for me any speaker will do... actually what i did was take apart an old headphone, tape it up, and hold it on with my hand as a mini handheld one...:censored:ty but it did the job..though its busted now

it wasnt a real mod, just a broken headphone held on...
but internal would be awesome and ds, if not then psp (if possible, i have no idea :P) i think would be great, both are nice speakers
