hi some asian person just hack my pc and i have a firewall on secative so anything that happends on the pc has to have permission but he got around all of that and a chat thing came up and he spoke in chinese so i said f**k off and unpluged my modem for about 30min first hacker in years ive had so i think my firewall is way outa date does and one know what i can do or whats a good programm to use i use protectX

Well to start off, I'd use Firefox since it helps prevent this sort of thing. As for actual protection I'm not sure since I'm looking for some ATM. Let me know if you find anything better than what you got

All of I've ever had is the firewall for windows which ive since unistalled and am purely using nod32 now.

i use opera and cos i use one site just on explorer i had the hacker but i dont get it i used protectX for over 4years and nothing till today

Wow you did not just dish a  Mac  how dare you they are the best computers to own they are a little pricey and to many ppl can afford them but they are the best and their leopard software blows vista out of the water. ( it runs great on a PC) :tup:

i cant afford one i use to have all macs but to much money. i miss my G4 and powerbook

do you have a router i would te one to use its firewall then switch to firefox  and ATM i am looking for a security software. been looking at novel

1. Switch to Firefox, Opera is worse than IE
2. Buy some security, yearly updated, subscription etc.

im not trying to bash macs, i love them. but the reason there aren't viruses or people that hack them is because no one who uses the has any thing of value to steal. the business that they want to go after all run PC's.

i would suggest investing in some good viruses protection anti spy ware software. but you have to be careful in stalling it. if you already have a viruses and try to install over it there is a chance that it will still attack your computer because it is under your protection.

so back up what you love and reinstall your OS

same here and no OSX trouble

though 2 times i got very malicious viruses on my windows partition so i completely reformatted and installed (on the partition)

one thing that isnt true is that the rep in the apple store, when pitching the imac to my dad (that he was gona buy anyway, no pitching required) told us that even the windows part of a mac cannot get a virus

bullcrap, i've gotten 2, so i protect and scan with avg free


but i mostly use osx, so no problems

but point is: if you're gona use windows, get good protection. i believe someone said before to back up all that you love and resinstall windows
if this chinese hacker is as bad as it sounds, i'd do that

well based on whatever your windows version is, it might initially not be compatable with your sound card so you might have to look for drivers


(another thing about macs is that the OS and hardwares is designed by the same so they always have the necessary hardware drivers)
but hey, this ain't a plug for macintosh computers (copyright 2008 apple computer inc.)

good luck on looking for drivers, and dont give up on your computer so quickly
give it time, and ask for troubleshooting help from acidmods phellows

Well duh if you formatted then obviously you need to download drivers again, usually from your PC's manufacturer...

reaper im not stupid i was think you was a good chap

i installed everything but keeps saying problems with the sound card i had this before. then i reformatted it and it fixed the problem once i backed up my files ill format it and get back and ill use firefox and avg for viruses thx for info guys
