Well heres the case, I wired the L and R to go on the side
plan to paint the case white to :P

Not much, But It will live!!!!

Yes It will be big, almost every portable made was big (So Im trying to keep it small as possible

Yeah don't mind the size of your portable,the feeling you get once it's finished is greater than your portable's size
Indeed the screen is the biggest worry,I always think of buying a portable 7inch TV for making a portable but after that it's polyfiller,batteries,electronics that I also have to spend money for + buying parts for making a custom charger for it(I love my school for teaching me this).

Most people use a PSOne screen for portables, they are excellent.
You should take a look at the Benheck forums, they make awesome SNES portables over there, and there are also threads about what screens you can and can't use..

Suggestions:

* Dismantle the controller, relocate the buttons, it will make the case far smaller. You can also mount the controller mobo on top of the SNES mobo to make things much smaller. You can easily butcher another controller to get the buttons and D-pad where you want them in the case and wire them to the original controller mobo. I do this all the time.
* The plastic you are using is too flimsy. Consider perspex, 3mm is very rigid.
* Use a PSone screen, it is a 5" screen, takes composite and RGB and runs off 7.2v. Good quality screen.
* Make your system about 1/2 of the size it looks like it will be at the moment.
* Get everything working, then think about making a case to fit, not the other way around.
* Make the weight of the system heavier at the bottom than the top, far easier to use comfortably.
* Research on the BenHeck forum, decide if you want to use a full sized SNES mobo or a Retro-Duo.
* Take your time, no rush!

well first hot glue gun, then chualk over layered the hot glu so I can it it white when its done

Hope you like such a big portable when it is finished, personal choice though. It is very fulfilling and fun making a portable. I still have concerns that the casing will be too flimsy; the more rigid the better.

Interesting looking at your SNES mobo, I have PAL ones, the boards are a bit bigger and also have a massive capacitor on it. Is yours a SNES 2 by any chance (smaller)? (They were not released in the UK (PAL)).

the case is pretty strong, the controller in the end will have more glue under, plus something to keep it faling in to the portable
