Need help, my monitor wont respond to the tower.
« on: May 09, 2008, 09:05:57 PM »
Ok so i built a computer out of some spare parts (there all pretty old parts). On the tower everything comes, but the monitor wont work.

I no the monitor works because im using it right now on my other computer.
I no the video card works to because i just had it working on another computer before i put it on the built one.

So does anyone no what wrong?

Uhhh, check to make sure the motherboard works. Make sure the video card is in all the way. Nothing else really that I could think of.

Yea, everything connected. I think the new case is causing a short on the motherboard, I'm going to look tomorrow.

It would most likely be something like a short or something due to the case ect. because the components where working before fine

You activated the GPU in the bios?

Lol I was just about to say that but you beat me to it. I had to do the same thing in my old P3 Gateway, de-activate onboard and activate the AGP port. You'll need to find out how to do it on your mobo since there are diff versions of bios out, but they are all about the same. Thats my best guess. Good luck!

This been fixed yet? What no one has asked is HOW far do you get? You turn the puter on and NOTHING appears? Does the light on the monitor change color? Does the computer post when you disconnect the monitor cable? Do you have a speaker on the moboard to hear the post code? Is it the cable on the monitor? What all have you done?
