I just put the spring in and left out the white piece and the UMD door works fine.

Yes, Let it lock into place and it should be fine. I've done the same and had no problems

I tried to put it back it wont snap in place. So I just left it out and the UMD door works fine. And anyone know y the memory stick sometimes won't read? Sometimes it says 0kb when i insert memory stick. Sometimes the light keeps flashing. I'm guessing the contact points are dirty?

I tried my memory stick and it did not work at all. I tried my friend's memory stick and it works but sometimes it won't read it.
