ok i need voltage!

ok i need to pull about 10 volts from the psp i was thinking can i just wire to two 5 volt spots and then to the VS of my device or do i need like a cap to store the energy of both and draw off the cap? just a theory but i need to pull 10 volts from the psp.

Cant do it that way.

The only way you could do that would be to have +5 volts and - 5 volts. Then bridging the two would give you ten volt potential.

You will have to build a small circuit to create a voltage doubler.
There are some 8 pin chips that will do it for you depending on how much current.

How much current do you need ?

i need ten volts. dang i was hopeing i can do it with just two +5volt points bridged last thing i need is another pcb in my psp im running out of room! lol but maybe that chip will help me i was looking at homemade inverters but couldnt find one to do 5volts to 10 volts. i found one that doubles voltage but it was too big. any other simpler suggestions?

you could get a voltage convertor to go from 5dc to 10dc (kinda like a invertor but going dc to dc) but a few problems cas it will drain ur battery and im not sure u will fit it in the psp.

It uses a simple 555 timer and will give you up to 200 ma

You could disassemble a cell phone charger and change a few things to get step up from 5 volts to 10.  If you don't need much amperage, the single chip switching regulator should be the easiest.  The 555 could do it, but if the voltage has to be precise, the chip like below should be perfect.  I believe there is one with very minimal external parts needed (like no coils).  I am not sure if it is this, but it pretty much depends on amperage requirements.

I need to solve a similar problem.  So in reference to the above schematic would a NE555DG4 timer from Jamco work?  I can't find the UI555 time.
