Need help.. Soldering UMD Door LEDs
« on: July 26, 2008, 01:18:45 PM »
Heyho guys!

Okay, hands down.. There are tons of topics like this one, but I just read 10 pages full of topics and the search function didnt help either... Soooo, if I know the answer you can go ahead and delete the topic! ^^

As the title hences, Im doing a UMD door mod. Just dremeled a nice window + engraving. And I have a couple of LEDs in front of me, 3mm 3000mcd, running at 3V/~20mA.. My question: Where to I solder them onto? I already have two SMD LEDs soldered to the speakers (sensitive L/R pad mod), sooo..?

You can solder them to the speaker too if you want them sound reactive. Or just wire it to the powerboard.

Ill get a pic 1 minute

Hey cool thanks! Ive heard soldering them onto the mobo is not so easy for a noob.. :/ I opened my PSP (well actually my cousins PSP) yesterday for the first time.. ^^ And is it true that its getting critical if I solder more than 4-6 LEDs onto the speakers?

Its not really gonna do much.

Some times it just not as bright or as sound reactive but from when ive done it the noob ways it fine with 4-6

Good luck

Also is your UMD drive still in??

don't know if having too many will cause any problems, but the speakers may not be as loud. Most people would suggest using a LM386 amp. Its a lot more complicated but people say it produces better results.

i know instead of the sound reactive and wasting the power to his speakers even more he can do the trigger mod
here a image of what he can do...but it says 10 ohm but idk with the leds u have u may need different resistor...
correct me if im wrong anyone...
