Over the back of the dpad, at least that's where it went on ps2 controllers.

I can't tell what it is, try moving the camera back a little bit, it takes a clearer picture.

didnt have to do with triggers. theres a little tactile switch on the back of the pcb above the battery that it fits over. thanks for the input kicks and whitetop.

That second little black piece fits over the top of the small button used for turning the controller off. There is a tiny hole at the top right of the controller if you're looking at it from the back. It is something like what dvd drive have so you can stick a pin in it to eject if the eject button doesn't work.
