Help with USB charge mod
« on: September 03, 2008, 05:34:15 AM »
I have just soldered the wire that connects the USB port to the power connector like it shows on the tut on this site.
While it the psp was still apart I connected the power board and battery to see if it works and it charges the battery but when i switched it on running from the usb lead the green power led comes on for about 2 seconds then goes off.
Also when i fix my psp together and put the usb lead it no longer recognises it and it doesnt charge/power up the psp so i took it apart and tested it and it does as above but when i fix it together it no longer works.
So could someone tell me what the problem is?
Thanks
Marcus

you may have connected the wire to more then one pin on the USB adaptor orthe wrong one. Also it may have gotten hooked to the wrong side of the dc
plug on the mobo.

I have took pictures of what i have done

I have just thought of something when the psp is apart it works but when it is fixed together then it doesnt work so could the solder on the DC socket be touching the LCD brace ? and could this cause it not to work?

thanks

just make sure that blob of solder that u hav on the pin of the usb doesn't touch the pin next to it if it does the pc wont recognize the psp usb and will just show it as a corrupted drive, the best option u have is to take a blade or something sharp and grind away any solder that might be touch the other pin, or u could use desoldering braid to remove the excess solder.
