My xbox 360 works, but it doesn't show the video.

You probably have the AV cable set to the wrong setting.

^^ i'd agree. there is a little switch on the bottom of the cable, the part that connects to the 360, try switching that around and see what happens.

The AV cable I have is a set with all the systems. There's nothing on it with a switch of any sort.

my cable is standard, and i have a switch, but my console also has an hdmi port

Well, maybe you should try using the one the 360 came with to make sure it's not the cable.

i would do that. also, did you recently change any video settings for the 360?

maybe your 360 video card crapped out. fix it your self and spend a wing and drum stick, or "hope" it rrods, and send it to M$.
