its a standard sort of punk tone

So if your a pedal guitarist something like a BOSS DS-1 will get you what your looking for...If your willing to spend a bit more you could get a British style distortion pedal like the one at Tech 21 NYC, british is the type (normally unintended) used by most punk bands but was first used in classic rock and early metal like AC/DC

If your more of a beginner - intermediate guitarist just boost your amps gain knob to about 4 oc and fiddle around with your pickup switch if you have one on your guitar.

Set it to humbucker if you have them on your guitar for pickups as for distortion...6 bass, 6 mid, and 10 treble is what I use...distortion is around 8-10 most of the time...makes the song sound a LITTLE darker, but it works for me :dribble:

heh BOSS DS-2 TURBO Distortion ftw lol.

I don't think it will really matter as long as you play around and see what sounds good. the effects don't have to be 100% right, just the playing.

The best way to find out what pedal they are using is to go to you local music store and try a lot of pedals and decide which one sounds the best( or what sounds like face down by RJA)

ibenez tube screamers are good distortion pedals that are pretty versitile, also i have had a black death pedal(i think boss)that was good.

also keep in mind that the guitarist is responsable for a large majority of the sound with the way they pick and finger the notes,

sounds like a boss overdrive or line6 crunchtone through something like a marshall plexi or valvestate while using the rhythm pickup on the guitar with the tone on about 6-7,of course if you have a single coil guitar you can just use the middle pickup on about 5,
go easy on the overdrive and turn up the bottom/bass on the amp to about 6,turn down the body down to 3,
AND GET ROCKIN!!!
