itouch dock
« on: December 26, 2008, 06:49:06 PM »
so i recently got an ipod touch over the holidays, and im sitting there playing with it when an idea pops into my head...this should have the most amazing dock ever. thats when i came up with the idea of using a PS2 controller as the dock.
i did a lil research and found out that there is already a tut for making the controller into a dock, but that doesnt cover what i want to do.

i want the dock to hace a notification LED & built in amp + 2x speakers [one for each channel.

for the LED im going to run it in series with the red cable from the usb cord. so it will go:
BWGR
|  |  |  |
|  |  |  =()<-LED
|  |  |  |

this way the LED only lights up when the touch is docked.

the amp and speakers are going to be based on this schematic VVVV
http://www.elecfree.com/electronic/portable-9v-headphone-amplifier-by-ne5532/

and im going to be placing two speakers underneith where the dpad and X[]O/\ buttons are.

each speaker is going to be roughly an inch in diameter.

the amp is going to be run off of coin cell batteries. there will be two cells [1 cell=3 batteries in series] and the two cells will be in parallel

bump for update.

ok so it seems no one has taken any interest in my project, but i will continue to post updates  and etc. excuse the multiple posts, it is to try and gain attention as i would like feedback.

now onto the updates.

so as you can see, i cut the hole, and its fitted for the cable. next in line is to make the veroboard, do my lil cable trick so i can get my indicator LED, hotglue the port in place then mold plastic around for a good secure fit. after that is all done, next step is to work on the amplifier.

it seems like the perfect controller to use, it counterbalances itself, i grew up on sony and nintendo and i cant get into most of my nintendo controllers, and i kinda figured it would be original

Okay, but I don't understand why it has to be in a controller anyway?
