Should I do these PC upgrades?
« on: December 24, 2008, 05:17:40 AM »
Been asking this on a few other places, so I will ask it here too lol, I already know what I will do, but I want to hear opinions :D.

~Current PC Specs~
-Motherboard: EVGA NVIDIA nForce 750i SLI FTW ATX
-Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield @ 3.2 GHz
-Graphics Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 260 Core 216
-Memory(RAM): G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB)
-Power Supply: Corsair TX750W
-Tower Case: Antec Nine Hundred ATX Mid Tower
-Operating System: Windows Vista 32-bit

~Possible Upgrades~
-EVGA X58 SLI
-Antec 1200
-2x G.SKILL 6GB (3 x 2GB) DDR3 1600
-Intel Core i7 920
-2x Seagate Barracuda 1TB SATA 3.0Gb/s HDD
-And a GTX 285/295 (Will be stepping-up my card)
-Windows Vista 64-bit

So will it be worth it? Hmmm? Will be throwing in an aftermarket Heatsink and fan when more come out and still waiting for the EVGA X58 SLI FTW board to come out. All this may come around to 1,500+ USD so what do you guys think? Is it worth the money?

Your computer is fine as it is, no need to spend extra money to upgrade to the latest technology when your computer will handle things to come. I'm  still running a socket 775 setup and it's great.

This is why I want to! I want the raw power that it will offer, even though I might not use all of it lol.

I want to upgrade my 8800GT to a GTX 260. I also need to upgrade my ram. I just sold my OCZ 2GB SLi Ready Ram. Right now I'm using some old Crucial 667Mhz Value ram. I think I might get 4Gb of OCZ sli Ready ram because tigerdirect is having a sale on the ram. $9.99 after MIR.

If I had the money I wouldn't spend them on unnecessary upgrades yet, put the money somewhere safe and wait a year and in a year time you gonna have even more money for a crazy pc if u save sum more.

If i was you, its a bit early to upgrade everything already, Id save it up and wait for some even newer parts to come out

Or if your impatient like me, go for it, assuming you have the money

I doubt that my Corsair TX750W wont be enough, I asked if it was enough on another forum and they said it was better than enough.

Also, I will wait a while on these upgrades, want to wait for DX11 cards and the new Phenom II to see if Intel does a price cut.
