LED Light placements
« on: September 20, 2009, 04:06:41 PM »
So here is my concept of what i want to do, but i need to know how to complete the circuit and how i could connect all the LED's the simplest/ easier (1 long cable for multiple LEDs or 1 wire for each LED)  and if it isn't to much to ask where can i get these LED lights in a retail store as there isn't a radioshack in Canada and thesource doesn't seem to have em.
Any help/modification is helpfull.
Yellow are wires going to the switch
Pink is the wire going to speakers
Also what kind of switch should i get? (If there is a certain kind or will a normal one be fine)
And should put a resistor in there? Cause i don't think i need one.

edit:I Plan on putting the switches on the side (silver trim of psp) so it will be less noticable. and i will put 2-3 leds on the home bar on the Volume - and between select and music note.
(PSP SLim 2001)

Having one LED on each end of the home bar would probably suffice.

Well its an idea i recommend using a LM386 or 2n2222 instead of wiring directly to the speakers.

Ok how if i use the 2n2222 transistor does it come with a switch? and would connecting it like this be sound reactive?(because i don't want to make it sound reactive)

How would i connect the LEDs because from this it just looks like you connect the transistor to the speaker and led 1 side to the transitor and the other to battery. Can someone clarify or draw a noob friendly/ picture of how to connect all of em together.

Well, I would buy them on line but I can't, so is there a store that is in Toronto or nearby.

This is becoming simpler and simpler now all i need to know is do i need the amp for the LED sound reactive lights,  would i need resistors and lastly how i would connect the LEDs wires to the transistor and speakers and switch.
(I would think i need a resistor for each wire put before the + of  led)

edit: ok so this is my 2nd concept of wiring this. Would this work (switches (purple line, lights running on speakers) the audi amplifiers and such wouldn't fit in this drawing but that just looks easy. (ignore the shoulder LEDs as they will be sound  reactive)

So this is what it the onnections would look like?

Is that because you can't buy online in general or is there a problem with the store? I'm a bit paranoid about the new store. Cheers for the recommendation!

If you're putting 5V into 2V LEDs you've blown them. Probably the fault of the guy that supplied the LEDs.... only kidding that would be your fault, but you'd be surprised of the number of people that would blame the supplier for sending faulty LEDs when they've wired them to a higher voltage source!
You'll want a resistor in there.
