GhoSt 360 worklog
« on: May 06, 2009, 02:59:44 AM »
Im going to post my progress on this 360 mod here. This was a rrod console I picked up for $20. x clamp fixed it and modded the fans to 12v.

here it is

some of my parts arrived today.

First Im starting work on the extra fan, getto fan chutes, to increase effiency and allow more air flow to the gpu.

working that cardboard

fits perfectly. (gona cover that orange stuff)

.

will be updated.

that looks like a Xenon board (one of the first) and I cant see it but it looks like by the placement of the heatpipe inside the heatsink it has been sent to the microsfot repair shop already!! directly under the fan you put in there should be a signature or two of the repair tech, it would be nice to send him an email telling him his repair was wothless.

have fun, modd the crap out of, dont be pissed when/if it RROD again. (sorry dude thats just how it is)

yea I will, and I know it will rrod again. The current repair didn't even add the new gpu heat sink.

Which X-Clamp method did you use? Hybrid?

Idk, I repacedthe x clamps with screws and nylon and steel washers. And replaced thermal paste, then I used a heatgun to reflow solder joints and it works like a charm, I had it running for 2-3 hours playing and it didn't freeze.

would it be safe to run like 3 fans and maybe 12 3mm leds off the direct points for the power plug?  i wasnt to sure if i should look for multiple 12v points or jsut stick to that one.  thnx and cant wait too see it finished!

Nice job on that fan mod. Keep up the good work. I like the lighting effect. Now, allow me to share with you the way I do the same fan mod which can give you more ideas. The fan size I use is 70mm X 15mm with a 3 wire plug and the way I made the connection. Also, check out the 2 black philips screws I use to fastened the fan against the metal case.
