Just SoftHacked My wii - what next
« on: May 21, 2009, 07:17:31 AM »
ok well i have to admit i had much love for my wii when i first used it when it first came out i was there on release day queing up (even skiiped college to do so) but after 6 or so month my interest started to drop and it basically until today hadnt been turned on for the best part of 6+ months. so i whent on and installed bootmii 0.1 did a nand backup then whent back and installed HBC 1.0.2 and DVDX (still havnt worked out how to play DVDS yet). now all i have put on it so far homebrew wise is wii homebrew browser, and wiiradio.

so what do you guys recomend next - what should i do/ install now

and do you think i should upgrade my wii from 3.1e and if so what to

also anyone care to share how dvdx works and where this hidden channel to play dvds is

i am not responsible for what i do or my advice

No hidden channel. You've got dvdx-now you can utilize software to play dvds and run backups.

Run a system update to 4.0. I haven't found anything incompatible with it yet and if you're already softmodded, the softmods stay.
One thing you're going to definitely want to get (If you're like me) is the Backup loader and usb iso loader. Amazing tools.

I'm fairly sure it is. And am I allowed to post the links here? The backup loader loads burned disks and the usb loader loads ISOs off of a usb drive..

yes you can as it isnt linking to iso's of games and the intended use of these applications is purely so you can load your own personal backups in order to prevent damage to your original disks

WAD Manager v1.3 Link
-Get an SD card and place this app in /apps and then make a folder on the root called /wads and place all wads in here(Next part).

USB ISO Loader  [I recommend the Brisma mod, but it crashes a lot for me] Link
-put the wad in /wads and put the app folder in /apps

Backup Launcher Link
-Download the wad and put it in /wads and download the app and put it in /apps

The run WAD Manager through the Homebrew Channel and choose SD (for the source) and then install both the Backup Launcher wad and USB ISO Loader wad.

There, now you have a channel for each of them and you can also run them through HBC.
You MIGHT need cIOS for them, though. I don't remember... if you do, then just google it and get the latest.

Just a custom IOS that allows more homebrew stuff, basically.

If you want to be brick proof just make a NAND backup in bootmii, which you already did.
I installed it as well, and I'm loving it so far.

I don't know, I haven't updated mine in forever and a day.
And I've done a ton and it's never bricked, so I don't think you'll have anything to worry about.
