PSP PHAT Backlight Connector
« on: June 18, 2009, 07:41:37 PM »
Alright. For some reason my backlight connector is not supplying power to the backlight...

So, I am wondering... Is there any way to connect the backlight to a different power source? It shouldn't be difficult seeing's how it's a constant power supply to the backlight. Sure it will render the light button on the homerow useless, but as long as I can still use the backlight.

Which wire inside the ribbon belongs to the positive terminal, the ground terminal, and what the other two wires are for?

You sure you didn't fry the backlight fuse? wait I'm not sure if there's a backllight fuse in a psp 1000 but if there is then that's probably your problem.

I probably fried something, sparks were happening at first. xD

Still, anyone know a way I can fix that and/or alternate power it?

That doesn't help me when I have a TA-086 Motherboard, and NOBODY has any pictures of this motherboard large enough for me to compare. :/

After lots of digging, I finally found one large enough.

Bridge the thing circled in red near the backlight connector and you're good to go. That's the Ta-086 backlight fuse.

Worked for me. :)

Lol, I wasn't aware.

Apparently to find a large enough TA-086 motherboard picture for comparison, you need to search "TA086" and not "TA-086".

Because of that it took me forever to find this. xD

Lol, I really need a good camera. I absolutely love photography, but all I have is a crappy digital camera.

When I raise about $2,000 though... Expect a lot of pictures of many things. xD

sorry dude but you can't connect it to another power source, the backlight runs on 40v ac through an inverter, you could try desoldering the connector and using wires to solder the ribbon cable to the connector,it's only 3 wires, but use thick wire or it'll fry.
