Eternal Sonata [PS3]
« on: June 18, 2009, 09:46:00 PM »
Okay well if any of you know my screen name you'll know that I am a role play gamer. So when I heard that a game with a half decent reputation was being made on the PS3 I had to have it.

Overview:

- Very personal story line which is easy to get swept up and lost in.
- Captivating Visuals.
- Amazingly unique dungeons.
- Smoothly created cut scenes.
- Amazing tunes, for those of you into really really really old school. [Like myself]
- Lighting effects that influence the battle system/
- Colorful environments that shame Willy Wonka's factory contents.

Pros:

For those looking for a role play game to kill some time, as well as an in depth story line this is certainly the game for you. An amazing combination of a real-time strategy and a turn-based combat introduce an exhilarating battling system. In depth character development keeps the story entertaining and fresh. Stunning graphics and an extensive sound track are simply always a good thing.

Cons:

You know those games where the lead character has the same phrase they say after a battle? Yea this game is by far worse in that aspect, try every single attack. Has a pretty straight forward story with a limited scope for exploration. A very unforgiving level system. [KILL EVERYTHING. Get to a point where you cant go backwards, and the enemies jump up a few levels and you'll find yourself starting over just to level up.] A few places throughout the game have erratic framerate issues going on.

The Bottom Line:

If you are a role play gamer this game is a must have. If you've already played the game on the Xbox this game has very little to offer you minus a larger sound track, some bonus cut scenes, and extra character costumes. If you have played it on the Xbox and beat it but must see the cut scenes for yourself and refuse to watch the YouTube videos: Rent it.

TwisTed Rating: 7/10

Still a by far better game than Folklore and Enchanted Arms.
