Questions for a mirror finish
« on: April 28, 2009, 03:43:22 PM »
Been thinking about painting some consoles to get a nice mirror shine, but I got some questions.

Can I just apply rubbing compound with a clean, cotton cloth, or do I need to use a microfiber cloth? And I can reuse them after I clean them right? Sorry, noob question lol...

Also, after clear coating, will I get a nice enough mirror finish with just some rubbing compound, or should I also use some glaze, and then wax? How would I apply glaze and wax, if I need to?

Edit: Crap, I just realized there's Krylon Fusion Clear Coat... I only have normal Krylon Clear Coat. Anybody know if I'll end up with problems?

I actually have no idea about making a mirror finish on anything lol, but try poking around here they actually have ALOT of useful knowledge on modding stuff too.

Yeah I read that, and that's why I'm having these questions. I see they apply the cutter and polish with a polishing tool, but I'm not sure if I can just use a cloth, and if it has to be a microfiber cloth. Also, they use wax but it takes over 30 days before I can use the wax, AND the few days I need to prep and paint the case, so I just wanna know if i can get a decent finish just using the cutter.
