Motherboard power issue
« on: September 03, 2009, 06:21:35 AM »
Well its been a while since i done some psp modding so i decided to install some leds into my slim. once i had everything connected i went to test it but it wouldnt turn on with the battery in. i plugged in the charger and nothing. i took out the motherboard from the case and took off all the wires soldered to it etc and had just the power cable and powerboard connected to it. When i try to turn it on, the power led comes on for a split second and turns off again, nothing else happens. if i put in the battery it charges fine. If i put in a pandora, the power led blinks every 5 seconds, showing it is attempting to turn on but cant. I assumed it was the power fuse so i bridged it but it didnt fix it. Im now starting to think it may have been static electric dicharge or something else, im not sure because as i examine the mobo there seems to be no visible signs of damage.

Thanks

Usually a short or major mobo problem like static discharge.

I had this problem with an old phat and the motherboard is dead...
I seen this happen to PSP phats with cracked screens too and replacing the cracked screen fixed the problem.
